An international hub dedicated to advancing truth-telling and dialogue through Indigenous-led research, education and public engagement.

The Centre was established in 2026 as a flagship initiative under Murmuk Djerring, the University’s Indigenous Strategy, placing truth-telling and dialogue at the heart of the University’s work.

It brings Indigenous people and everyday allies together to support truth-telling and create space for honest public conversation to support action and positive change.

Indigenous-led

We work alongside Indigenous communities globally to shape conversations, programs and partnerships led by cultural authority and self-determination.

Research impact

We support research that brings truth-telling and dialogue into public life, shaping how institutions, communities and policymakers understand and respond to the impacts of colonisation on the past and present.

Teaching and learning

We connect Indigenous-led research and education so students understand the importance of Indigenous ways of knowing in our communities and are better equipped to lead change.

Public engagment

We partner with leaders, policymakers and allies to reshape systems through professional education, repatriation, research consultation and reform that honours truth, justice and healing.

Truth-telling continues

The journey which started on the steps of Victorian Parliament House ended at Federal Parliament, Canberra on 27 May, but we are still continuing to advocate for a national truth-telling process.

Support our work

The Centre for Truth-telling and Dialogue ensures that First Peoples' voices are not just heard, but centred, respected, and embedded in how we teach, govern, and lead.

This is shared work, indigenous and non-indigenous people walking together, side by side, with truth at the centre.

That's what we forged through the Walk for Truth, and that's the spirit we'll carry forward here. United and committed to lasting reform and systemic change. Travis Lovett, Executive Director

National Walk for Truth

The National Walk for Truth is an 820-kilometre journey from Naarm (Melbourne) to Canberra, led by our Executive Director Travis Lovett.

It calls for a national truth-telling process and recognition of the impacts of colonisation on First Peoples past and present.

We invite you to join a public walk section, listen at truth-telling events and add your name to the open letter to the Prime Minister.
