Made in China Journal

The Made in China Journal (MIC) is an Open Access biannual publication dedicated to all facets of politics and society in mainland China and the Sinophone world at large.

MIC first began in 2012 as a monthly newsletter aimed at spreading awareness of labour issues in China among Italian trade union officials. In 2016, as the editorial board grew to include more activists and researchers, the newsletters was reimagined as a proper journal with the current broader focus.

MIC and all its spin-off projects rest on two pillars: the conviction that today more than ever it is essential to bridge the gap between the scholarly community and the general public, and the related belief that open access is necessary to ethically reappropriate academic research from commercial publishers who restrict the free circulation of ideas.

The journal is edited by CCCS deputy director Ivan Franceschini and published in partnership with ANU Press.
