Dr Suharto

Dr Suharto is a researcher and activist of the disability advocacy movement. In 2003, he founded SIGAB Indonesia (Center for Inclusion and Disability Advocacy Movement) with nine other colleagues. SIGAB has inspired many disability organizations, non-governmental organizations and governments from the national to regional levels to realize social inclusion and full participation of the disabled in social development. He earned a Doctorate degree at the School of Human Services and Social Work, Griffith University, and a Master of Arts degree from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Now he is a professional researcher and consultant in the fields of disability, community-based rehabilitation, community development, livelihoods, public policy, inclusive development, and human rights. Suharto is also a lecturer in Islamic Community Development Study Program, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta.

Dr Suharto adalah peneliti dan aktivis gerakan advokasi disabilitas. Pada tahun 2003, dia mendirikan SIGAB Indonesia (Pusat Gerakan Advokasi Inklusi dan Disabilitas) bersama sembilan rekan lainnya. SIGAB telah menginspirasi banyak organisasi disabilitas, lembaga swadaya masyarakat dan pemerintah dari tingkat nasional hingga daerah untuk mewujudkan inklusi sosial dan partisipasi penuh penyandang disabilitas dalam pembangunan sosial. Dr Suharto memperoleh gelar Doktor di School of Human Services and Social Work, Griffith University, dan gelar Master of Arts dari International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Kini dia menjadi peneliti dan konsultan profesional di bidang disabilitas, rehabilitasi berbasis komunitas, pengembangan komunitas, mata pencaharian, kebijakan publik, pembangunan inklusif, dan hak asasi manusia sekaligus dosen di Program Studi Pengembangan Masyarakat Islam, Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta.
