French is one of the world's major international languages: it is spoken by over 200 million people in 43 countries, on five continents.
A knowledge of French increases your chances of communicating in a non-English-speaking country and may enhance access to careers in international relations and development studies, business, science and the arts.
The goal of the University of Melbourne French Trust Fund is to build on the strength and vibrancy of French studies and networks at the University and to enrich and enhance them. The Fund provides support for exchange opportunities for members of staff and for students enrolled in research degrees; for post-doctoral fellowships in French related areas; for research initiatives that promote French-Australian relations; and for French related seminars, conferences, special lectures and lecture series.
By supporting the French Trust Fund, as well as assisting the advancement of the University's teaching and research links with France, you are also making a valuable contribution to the Australian/Francophonie relations.
