Engagement

The Initiative for Peacebuilding actively engages with policymakers, peacebuilding practitioners and organisations, and key stakeholders and leaders in conflict-affected communities to ensure our work is grounded in real-world challenges and is responsive to evolving needs of those best placed to influence change and build peace. We work through reciprocal and meaningful partnerships to provide peace process support, facilitate inclusive dialogue processes, and contribute to policy development through evidence-based insights. Our engagement activities aim to bridge academic research, professional expertise and practical action, amplifying the impact of peacebuilding efforts across local, national, and international contexts. Through partnership and engagement, we maintain strong networks of peacebuilders across our region and beyond. We will:

  • Convene forums and dialogues that focus on supporting peace leadership and dialogue for key programmatic areas and partnerships (South Sudan Peace Leadership program and peace dialogue series, Intra-Afghan Dialogue, Myanmar Forums and Dialogues).
  • Convene public and bespoke events that highlight important issues in peace and conflict research and practice (e.g. Langmore Oration, Peacebuilding Perspectives Conversation Series, annual conference on Afghanistan).
  • Build on long-term partnerships with government, NGOs, and diaspora communities.
  • Shape and influence policy through briefings, consultations, submissions, and strategic media engagement.
  • Enhance our reputation as a trusted resource and partner on issues of peacebuilding and conflict in our region and beyond including by developing a shared narrative that connects diverse individual team and affiliates efforts and collective projects under the IfPB.
  • Value diverse knowledge systems and practices especially Indigenous knowledge and contextually grounded approaches to peace and conflict.
