Research
The Initiative for Peacebuilding is committed to producing rigorous, high-quality, and high-impact academic research that advances the field of peace and conflict studies and practices of peacebuilding, conflict resolution and conflict transformation. Our research is grounded in scholarly integrity and aims to contribute meaningfully to both academic discourse and practical peacebuilding efforts. We will:
- Advance rigorous, interdisciplinary, and contextually grounded academic research on conflict dynamics, peacebuilding practices and the effectiveness of international efforts to respond to conflict and crisis.
- Emphasise scholarly excellence and research impact in all research outputs.
- Seek diverse funding sources for individual, collaborative and Initiative research projects.
- Convene scholars and communities of practice via seminars, workshops, work-in-progress sessions and other opportunities for scholarly engagement.
- Support emerging scholars and practitioners by providing opportunities to engage in programs and networks, to mentor and receive feedback on their work.
- Encourage research activity, including by preserving space for non-funded academic inquiry.
- Value and support non-traditional research outputs and translate research into accessible formats (policy briefs, media commentary, public events) and engage in public discussions and debates on issues related to peace and conflict.
- Strengthen transdisciplinary collaborations across faculties (e.g., Law, Education, Fine Arts and Music, MDHS/ Public Health) and institutions.
- Seek funding to expand our PhD program.
