From Glass to Pixels: The Shaping of Astronomical Practices in the Transition to Digital Photography
The introduction of digital photography in astronomy is frequently portrayed as a seismic shift, a rupture, or revolution. Yet, as many historians of science have observed, proclamations of 'revolution' seldom capture the full complexity of these episodes. Although other transition episodes have been re-studied (for example, the chemical revolution), astronomy's 'digital turn' has been severely under-explored and has received little academic attention. I aim to rectify that!
