Partnership with Oxford University Centre of Criminology

Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford

Overview

Criminology at the University of Melbourne has formed a partnership with the University of Oxford’s Centre of Criminology and is engaging in a range of collaborative teaching and research activities. These activities are planned to include opportunities for students, through tutorial fellowships hosted at the University of Melbourne and through research visits for PhD students to the University of Oxford, under the auspices of the Global Hub in Criminal Justice, based at Oxford.

An overseas subject, New Horizons in Criminology (CRIM90038), has been developed for the Master of Criminology program, bringing Melbourne students together with Oxford students and staff. A range of research collaborations are underway, including the provision of supervision advice to PhD students, planned initiatives such as an early career researcher workshop, and the possibility of staff visits at both institutions. The University of Melbourne has hosted a number of visits by Professor Ian Loader, who has taught an advanced level subject on Policing and Security, and who has also delivered seminars for staff and graduate researchers.
