The Manifestation of the Religious Worldview of China Among the Republican Establishment
From Manifest Destiny to American exceptionalism, from divine errand to good-evil Manichaeism, the religious worldview has characterised American foreign policy since the start of its political experiment 250 years ago.
This thesis looks at the Sino-American relationship through the lens of religion and argues that when the Republican establishment looks at China as well as the Sino-American relationship, they also adopt a religious worldview. This religious worldview is subtle, easily overlooked by political scientists, but significant. This worldview characterises not only how America conducts its foreign policy toward China but also how China will react to America in the future.
