Open Mic Event
At this event, student speakers reading original pieces of writing responding to the exhibition were joined by Arts alumna Dr Amy Brown, who read selections from her latest book of poetry (Neon Daze, VUP 2019). Watch a video of the event here.

In late 2019 the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne hosted Hard Truths: an exhibition of award winning photography from The New York Times. Here, for the first time, you can explore an online archive of photos and videos captured during the exhibition.

Hard Truths: Q&A Event
On the day of the exhibition opening a Q&A event was held for a student audience in the Arts West Atrium, featuring Damien Cave from The New York Times, Cecilia Hemana from the Australian Red Cross, and participating photographer Adam Ferguson. Watch a video of the event here.

Hard Truths: Mosaic Lecture
A panel of academic speakers from various disciplines from the Faculty of Arts and beyond presented their responses to the exhibition at this multi-disciplinary event. Hosted by New York Times foreign correspondent Jamie Tarabay. Watch a video of the event here.
