Faculty of Arts Exchange Enabling Scholarship

The Faculty of Arts Exchange Enabling Scholarships provide funding to students who might not be able to consider an overseas experience because of financial constraints or those who could benefit from additional financial support to enhance their experience.
Funding will be assessed and awarded on a needs basis. Applicants are required to provide supporting documentation that attests to the disadvantage experience, such as a Centrelink statements or medical certificates. Applicants who do not submit documentation with their application will not be considered for this funding.

Faculty of Arts Overseas Subject Travel Grant
Graduate students only
Students are automatically assessed for eligibility once enrolled into an approved program
There are a number of grants available to graduate students undertaking an overseas intensive subject. There is no application form and no need to apply for this grant and all students that complete the subject are automatically considered. The grant will be paid retrospectively following the conclusion of the subject.
Benefits
The grant is valued at $700.

Keiko Hongo Japanese Scholarship
Undergraduate and graduate
Applications for 2020 open on 10 February and close on 30 March 2020
This scholarship, worth $2000, supports students of Japanese at second year, third year, honours and graduate level. This scholarship can be used to supplement the cost of participating in a structured program in Japan or research fieldwork and other associated activities.
Benefits
A single payment of $2,000.
Several awards of this amount will be offered.
Melbourne Global Language Scholarships
Undergraduate and graduate
Each year a limited number of scholarships are awarded to high achieving undergraduate and graduate language students to support language-enriching study at overseas institutions. These scholarships are designed to assist with the costs of undertaking intensive study programs of reasonable length, or semester/year-long exchanges.
Benefits
The funding value of the scholarships ranges from $1500 to $7000 for programs between 3 weeks and a year in duration, depending on the country of destination and/or the length of the proposed program of study. Intensive study programs will be taken into consideration.
Melbourne Mobility Awards

Applications are now open
The University of Melbourne offers a suite of scholarships and grants for students undertaking overseas study as part of their undergraduate or graduate coursework course. Some scholarships are awarded on academic merit and others to assist students who are experiencing disadvantage circumstances.
Benefits
The Melbourne Global Scholars Award, Jamakepe Foundation Scholarship and USA Foundation Scholarship provides a one-off payment of:
- $1,000 for students undertaking overseas study for up to 12 weeks, or
- $2,500 for students undertaking overseas study for 12 weeks or more
The University House Travel Scholarship and Aitchison Travelling Scholarship provide a one-off payment of up to $5,000.
The Melbourne Global Financial Assistance Grant, John and Betty McCreery Travelling/ Study Scholarship and Lin Martin Melbourne Global Scholarship provides a once-off payment up to $6,000.
New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants
Undergraduate
Students are automatically assessed for eligibility once enrolled into an approved program
The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is a signature initiative by the Australian Government to provide opportunities for Australian undergraduate students to undertake study, internships or mentorships in one of 40 participating Indo-Pacific locations.
If you apply and are selected for one of the following NCP Mobility Grants, you will represent the University as an ambassador of the overseas study experience, and will be called upon for promotional and reflective activities when required.
Benefits
The NCP Mobility Grants are awarded to students studying at particular Indo-Pacific institutions, and range from $3,000-$7,000 in value.
