Building New Worlds: Towards the Creation of Abolitionist and Anticolonial Oral Histories
Grounded in an Indigenist research methodology and oral history approach of telling histories from below, this project offers space for the flourishing of anticolonial and abolitionist oral history initiatives. Inspired by One Million Experiments, this project brings together scholars and community organizers to: a) conduct a symposium on interview-based storytelling, which will lead to; b) a Special Issue of Postcolonial Studies; and c) the creation of oral history workshops to upskill community organizers in interviewing, recording, editing and publishing skills. This project aims to expand understandings of the role of community-based oral history practices in building abolitionist and anticolonial futures.
