| First Nations communities face barriers to archives and research
material access critical to reclaiming their stories from colonial and
disciplinary frameworks. This project seeks to overcome these by developing a
First Nations Family Research Database comprising published oral history,
guides to archives, and open-access research, often inaccessible or hidden in
academic libraries and databases. This knowledge resource will have immediate
and sustainable impacts. It will 1) supply vital knowledge for an-already
established group of First Nations authors pursing publication of family
histories and 2) provide a culturally informed foundation to sustain and
elevate First Nations family history-making and networks. |
