'Taking Back Our Stories': Creating Space for First Nations Family Historians Through Digital Access to Resources, Research and Networks

First Nations communities face barriers to archives and research material access critical to reclaiming their stories from colonial and disciplinary frameworks. This project seeks to overcome these by developing a First Nations Family Research Database comprising published oral history, guides to archives, and open-access research, often inaccessible or hidden in academic libraries and databases. This knowledge resource will have immediate and sustainable impacts. It will 1) supply vital knowledge for an-already established group of First Nations authors pursing publication of family histories and 2) provide a culturally informed foundation to sustain and elevate First Nations family history-making and networks.
