Not Drowning, Fighting

Katerina Teaiwa

Over many years as a reporter and, lately, as a researcher and educator, Jo Chandler has been reflecting on the good, bad and ugly of how 'fly in, fly out' journalists cover foreign crises - health emergencies, catastrophic climate and environmental events, conflicts. It's an issue she discussed recently with Pacific scholar Katerina Teaiwa in this piece for Inside Story and The Canberra Times. Jo is planning to explore some innovative reporting models and collaborations through late 2022, researching a series of stories on Pacific initiated and lead climate projects with support from the Walkley Foundation Sean Dorney Pacific Fellowship.
