Carol Yinghua Lu is an art historian, curator, and current Director of the Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum. Lu was artistic director and senior curator of OCAT, Shenzhen (2012-2015), guest curator at Museion, Bolzano (2013) and China researcher for Asia Art Archive (2005-2007).

Lu was a recipient of the ARIAH (Association of Research Institute in Art History) East Asia Fellowship (2017) and a visiting fellow in the Asia-Pacific Fellowship Program at the Tate Research Centre (2013). She was the co-artistic director of Gwangju Biennale (2012).

In collaboration with Liu Ding, Lu is in the process of researching the legacy of socialist realism in the practices and discourses of contemporary art in China in a project titled “From the Issue of Art to the Issue of Position: Echoes of Socialist Realism.” Lu and Liu have co-curated numerous exhibitions, including the 7th Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale, a component of the 2nd Anren Biennale (2017), and a component of the 1st Trans-Southeast Asia Triennale (2021). They are the artistic directors for the 8th Yokohama Triennale (2024).
