Romantic Studies Association of Australasia 2019 Conference: Embodying Romanticism

Registration now open

Registration is now open for the fifth biennial conference of the Romantic Studies Association of Australasia (RSAA), UNSW Canberra, 21 - 23 November. This year's theme is 'Embodying Romanticism'. The ERCC is delighted to note that unit Co-Director and Lead Researcher, Professor Clara Tuite, will deliver a keynote lecture entitled 'Regency She-Kings: Byron, Keats and the Poetry of Voluptuousness', and Executive Director, Professor Peter Otto, will give an associated public lecture, 'The Architecture of Suffering: Matthew Lewis, Catherine Blake, and William Blake on rebirth, ruination, and loss'.

On the day immediately prior to the conference, research assistant to the ERCC, Dr Alexandra Hankinson, in collaboration with Damien Cole, has curated an exhibition of related materials from the holdings of the National Library of Australia. Ranging from pamphlets by Robespierre and Edmund Burke to watercolours by Joseph Lycett, Sarah Stone and others, Dr Hankinson has selected materials that directly link with the topic of the conference, and the subjects explored in the rich programme of papers to be delivered.
